The UK's favourite bird - with its bright red breast it is familar throughout the year and especially at Christmas! Males and females look identical, and young birds have no red breast and are spotted with golden brown. Robins sing nearly all year round and despite their cute appearance, they are aggressively territorial and are quick to drive away intruders. They will sing at night next to street lights.

I originally complied some of these images and sounds to share with my mother who had been bed bound in a nursing home. Now she is more free than the little birds seen here! It seems impossible that just eight months after losing my wife to the same condition, my mum should have followed her. So, here I present those sounds and images for you and hope that you may derive some pleasure from them. Mum loved nature. Can you identify the birds from the sounds and images? This is the bird feeder outside our lounge window. Stocked with high energy fat balls that also contain small insects. Birds have been very hungry this year and in this video there are 5 small birds on the feeder at once, towards the end.
